Metro has undergone a change. At the end of 2005, the game was shut down and all old characters who had been created from 1998 when the original game opened up to that date were cleared from the database. Metro opened again using the name "Metro II" or "M2" enforcing all new characters, all new plots, and an extremely active staff and playerbase. M2 is still set in Toronto and old players may note a comfortable feeling on the refurbished but familiar city-grid.
