This mud is riddled with issues, its hard to decide where to begin but here goes. Practice restriction skill cap at 70 unclaned This wouldn't be a huge problem if there was constant Immortal contact but since theres maybe one on and he's afk all the time and won't clan people so well, there the issue. Your forever locked behind the clan wall. You can't pass 70, you can't get skills you need to rp your class. You can't do anything. If they removed the 70 cap and allowed you to practice every skill, itd improve the game ten fold Ok whats next, oh combat Combat is horrendous on this game when your by yourself. That is of course unless your high ranked clan member with blade forms/weaves or backstab, but otherwise anyone not clanned is boned. You'll get the experience of missing 80 percent of your attacks even at capped skill level. And the one skill available to non clanned, bash, doesn't even work properly. If you get lucky you'll actually hit the target when its stunned, but thats seldom. And most of the time they stand right back up on the same round. Disarm has the same issues. Next is the populace, or the complete lack of There is maybe 1 other person on the game at any given time and thats an Immortal that is afk. This means your stuck by yourself, unable to smob for best gear because you can't get clanned, theres noone on to help, and the mercenaries you can hire will flee in a few rounds. Bugs..... Theres tons of them. I meen if I was a tester, it'd take me years of hard long hours finding and reporting the issues. There are shopkeepers that don't buy proper gear or have no starting gold. Combat skills that improperly work if at all and so many other problems that would fill this page if listed. All in all theres a reason theres no population on this mud. No immortals that help you with clans or clan ranking so even if you do get clanned your still boned. So folks got tired of trying and just abandoned it. Game could be good but all issues are overwhelming and will never be addressed. I give this mud 2/10 stars. The only reason I give it a two is theres alot of features that could be good if they'd just execute them properly. They of course wont so theres the other 8 stars gone.

This is pretty spot on. Aside from all the technical stuff like things that should work, there is very little to do. The only questing is done when you first start. It was seriously the most exciting part for me. There is nothing interactive and joining a clan just makes it worse. You do the same things over and over and each rank unlocks nothing of worth to you unless you consider being able to do the monotony faster.

A wonderful world, expanding all the time. The attention to detail of the coders and builders is something all new players comment on, as well as the friendly and involved Immortal staff. We currently have a small, but very dedicated playerbase. A world that encourages rich RP, but is also being expanded to allow cross race player killing. The combat system is undergoing some changes for speed and playability. It is very possible to rank is any of the military clans, Tower, Wisdoms, Hunters, and many others. It's kept me busy and interested as both a player and an immortal for three years now, and I'm certain that it will have something to offer everyone that is interested in Robert Jordan and Wheel of Time. Come and give it a try, training system is available and personal attention from other players and immortals is likely. We are VERY newbie friendly! Mention Soephie when you arrive, or if you see me lurking about, and I'm sure to give you a little personal orientation and attention. Look for golden eyes watching you from the shadows. Soeph.

Unfortunately, Soephie does not attend the mud anymore and it has become a shell of what it once was. To put it frankly, beginning any game is like the honeymoon phase of a relationship. You overlook things that don't work properly. You disregard all the warning signs. Then years later you realize how much time you spent in an environment that promised fantastical things but you were just hoping for it to fet better. It doesn't. It hasn't for quite a few years. It had promise and Soephie here likely saw that. But alas it was likely squeezed out of her and she has since, for a lack of a better phrase, seen the Light.

Its a hard thing to compare MUD's. Its even harder to explain when you find the right one. What is it that draws you to it? Why is it 'the one'? After mudding for 15 years and actually playing one or another that whole time. I can say without a doubt i have finally found it. Robert Jordan 'Wheel of Time' based; it is as close to the books as possible with a MUD. Mirrors of the Wheel is like nothing else out there. Wolfbrothers, Male Channels, Aiel and Whitecloaks are all just the beginning. Set off accross the world, meet with Aes Sedai and Gaidin. Roleplay can be taken to extremes and with an active Game of Houses, there is always a rumor or two to dig up. Set just before the Aiel War, the timeline allows for open roleplay and epic battles. Clans are many and with Trollocs and Fades soon to be thrown in the mix there is sure to be plenty of action. Any Clan/House/Sept you want to join, Mirrors has it. Perhaps you want to be a Cairhien Elitesman and be at the front when the Aiel sweep over the Spine, or a Shienar Lancer, holding the trolloc hoards at bay. Anything is possible. With cleanly built zones that sometimes seem neverending and countless mobs/smobs you are never left bored when the fighting dies down. New zones are added constantly to keep the eager explorer in all of us busy. Hidden mobs teaching special skills. Built in quests anyone can do (not clan related). Your always finding something new. Mirrors has very unique ideas on how the channeling and 'talents' are coded. You cannot select which of the many special qualities (talents) you will be given, instead you must wait for them to emerge in their own time. Channeling has been coded as close to the book as possible, you are able to tie, release and hold weaves. Talents include channeling (Both male and female), Wolfbrothers/sisters also have a chance to be so rabid they cant SPEAK! Oracles (Mins ability), ability to see weave residues, ability to see Ta'veren and more being added. Any fan of the series would do well to come play for awhile. I'm sure you will find it time well spent. All the players and Immortal staff are more than willing to help anyone getting started and will see you right. Take a look.

I would have to give Mirrors of the Wheel a great big thumbs up. They have captured the spirit of a mud and built in that spirit which is always a bonus for the player. The mud is beautifully written and is easy to get lost in. When I first started playing, I didn't give it too much of a chance. And then when I really got into it, I found that this is one of the few muds I needed to keep playing. So I would highly recommend this mud for any one looking for a mud to play, but even more so to those who are fans of Robert Jordan and the Wheel of Time book series.

I only started this mud a couple days ago but I must say that I'm impressed. It's really a lot of fun, the combat is really awesome, the role-playing is great. Overall a great mud.

I would have to give Mirrors of the Wheel MUD a thumbs up. It does a great job capturing the atmosphere that Robert Jordan created in the Wheel of Time book series. On the game side of it, the unique combat and channeling system are great and I love how the you can advance and level through different means in the game rather than just kill kill kill. Also, the offering of 50+ clans is great and allows someone to play and roleplay what they really want. I think the roleplay is what hooked me. It is always present, but it is substantial and real. And you get rewarded for it. I say thumbs up. Give it a go. You will get hooked.

If you enjoy Roleplaying and the Wheel of Time book series, this could be a very fun place for you. You just need to be willing to put in a fair ammount of time. Playerkilling is allowed, but it is rare, this is more of a roleplay oriented mud. The mud atmosphere is very laid back, most of the time the players will help each other out(unless of course we are in a lazy sort of mood :D) which is why I would give this mud a 8 out of 10. I give it 8 because it doesn't have that many people who play it on a regular basis, which means less RPing and most of the RP is with the same people. If there were more players I would give it a 9 or 10 out of 10 based on everything else.

Er, since I try to see both sides of the story before making a decision, i'll say a bit about everything on this mud. If you have something against bad punctuation and whatnot, just leave, cause it's 1 am and spelling correctly isn't really that important to me right now. RP - I sriously doubt that a person can say that they can't find the kind of rp they're looking for from a Wheel of Time mud in here. I mean, there are so many clans here that are active and so many opportunities, that unless you're looking for ultra-uber-godly rp you'll be happy with Mirrors, and even if you're looking for ultra-uber-godly rp you will prbly find what you're looking for. :D - You MIGHT have heard at some places that RP is encouraged/enforced and after checking them out find that it was a false claim. Well, here at mirrors we can actually back up our claim. Because of the 'fame points' system, basically it is that if you rp with people, those people may vote for you, in turn when you get enough votes you may decide to exchange them for a CP (clan point, this is what you need to gain ranks in a clan). So this means that one of the ways you can gain ranks in a clan is by having good rp. - Clans have an important role on this mud. Basically, there are 3 main types of clans. Country clans: it's like a country (illian, arafel, mayene.....), the ranks tell us about your social rank. It goes from a simple farmer and all the way up to ruler of a nation. Secret clans: since none of my characters are in a secret clan i'll just tell you a bit about those. These clans run from blademaster(???), thiefs, darkfriends..... Other clans: These include clans like Tower, Wisdoms and other military clan (Illian Companions, Arafellin Rose Guard, Children of the Light.....) With these clans you can have a combo (Illian country-Illian companions) (Andor-Wisdom) (Arad Doman-White Tower)..... - Races: Right now, there are 2 races, Westlanders(the west) and the Aiel...very soon the Ogier will be added and then the Dark Side...The imms plan on having up to 11 races (westlanders, trollocs, aiel, seanchan.....) There are a lot more good things about our RP, now a few of the things I find lacking. NOTICE HOW I SAID, THAT THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT i FIND LACKING, THIS IS MY OPINION, OTHER PPL DISAGREE WITH IT. Right now, my biggest concern is that there is too much focus on the Tower and tower related clans (tower guards, warder students....), but that's because quite a few people want to play there. But now that there are more people who want to do rp that isn't related to the tower, Imms are doing a LOT more work on other areas. For example, until a short while ago, Illian was shortly deserted, but now because I joined the clan,... Read More

Having floated around on the Wheel of Time mud circuit for a while and finding only one other mud that I actually took more than an hour on, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried Mirrors of the Wheel. The detail and though that has gone into the mud is great. It adds a realism that I previously havn't seen in other muds. And just the size of cities, roads, country and buildings is amazing. It exempifies why Mirrors exudes realism. Though a smaller player base than other popular Wheel of Time muds, it is a hidden gem that you should definately invest a little time in. It has not been corrupted by outsiders who don't understand the game or what Wheel of Time is, by the masses who want things their way and are unable to cope with not getting it. That is why even with a small player base this mud is immensely fun for explorer and roleplayer alike. It has a great channeling and blade forms system in place. And the random attribute system (channeler, wolfbrother, taveren, etc.) is very unique in my eye from the other Wheel of Time muds. Clans act as clans and they roleplay that clan rather than simply existing with a clan name slapped on them. Now you might be asking yourself is this truely the greatest place ever with no negatives. Of course not, there are the down points that everyone has. But the number of negatives is so remarkably small that they are easily overlooked. The only ones that pop into my head as I write is there are a few characters who would brand themselves stupid by spitting drivel on the global channel they have, that the mud might be a little too Tower-centric right now (but this is quickly improving) and that some people don't join clans for the RP, but rather for the benefits which sullies the good name of the people who joined it for the right reason. But that is it, quick and simple and improving daily it seems. Has Mirrors become my Wheel of Time mud of choice? Not yet. But it is a close second and closing the gap every day it seems. Come, spend a little bit of time and don't let a small player base scare you off. If you take the time to learn, you will see that player base as it really is, committed and top notch at what they do. Nonar PS and FYI if you are looking for player killing, Mirrors is probably not the place for you as player killing is restricted by and large.

I see you visitor. May you find water and shade this day. That is what i would say to you if i saw you on the Mirrors of the Wheel MUD. Mirrors of the Wheel is a wonderful MUD that coincides perfectly with the world of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. The immortal staff are on every day and every hour and are one of the most helpful out there. I have played every Wheel of Time MUD(WoTMUD, Age of Chaos, all of them) out there and Mirrors of the Wheel is definitely one of the best. The staff is constantly working and new zones are being implemented. There are quests to do, people to RP with, and if you RP well you can even be voted for. At the moment there are the Aiel and the Wetlanders to join and all the clans of the Aiel and their holds will be implemented. True the wetlanders should just be human but I am sure that will be fixed later. Very soon there will also be an Ogier race. Eventually there will be Human, Aiel, Seanchan, Trollocs, and Ogier, and probably even more, dragkhar, fades, everything you can think of. Come play Mirrors of the Wheel it is a very friendly MUD where everybody will help you. Merlyn Reyn Aiel p.s. i know my names not rpish but i like it :) you should choose an rp name when you join

Mirrors of the Wheel is a great WoT MUD, especially if you enjoy leveling or questing. RP is scarce, but what roleplayers Mirrors has are great, by my own standards. Now, let's take this apart: The quests are very good; we're talking original stuff here, really cool. They are difficult to find, but most of the time talking to a mob is like talking to another PC. The leveling is good, I imagine; I'm not a leveler by any terms of the word. You do not see your experience, but rather, a percent comparing how much farther you have to go to the next level. Levels also determine which guilds you can join. Guilds themselves are plenty and utterly thematic; however, most are not open yet as the pbase is rather small. All Talents, such as Channeling and Wolfkin, are as thematic and thoroughly planned as the rest of the MUD; the only downside to Talents (depending on your perspective) is that you have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to a maximum of 120 hours of playing time to find out whether or not you have any. The immortals are friendly, the players are friendly, and newbie help is always available; indeed, the mudschool is entirely original and (if I do say so myself) one of the best I've ever seen. The only con to this whole MUD is a lack of roleplay; leveling and questing is far more predominant as both a player pastime and preference. All in all, five stars, thumbs up, etc etc etc ;) ~Vivianne

Okay, here goes. It’s time for my spiel about Mirrors, and one big disclaimer. This is only MY opinion. You noticed the word ‘my’ right, so no calling me an idiot or any other names. Oh, and I'm going to do everything I can to make it balanced in pros and cons, but may fail due to personal reasons. Oh, and this will probably end up long so read at your discretion. Mirrorsmud is a RP mud, set in Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time world, no mistakes about that. If you come you'd better like RP or at least be able to adapt, even though RP is definitely lacking in some places, mostly the Aiel, but more on that later. If you want a channeler (mage equivalent in Jordan’s works) you may have to work at it. There's a 15% chance a char will be able to channel, however that char's strength in the One Power (magic strength) can range from 5 to 500, completely randomly. Also the period of time for your channeling ability to 'manifest' ranges from between thirty minutes to a week of playing time on your character. So you won't be able to tell instantly. However, all this work is worth it because the channeling system is probably one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on a mud. Multiple weaves (spells) being cast at one time, up to a total of 5. And your Power will be divided up, randomly once again, between 5 elements: earth, air, fire, water, and spirit, these elements will affect what weaves you can learn. For you MC lovers, the Taint (a curse placed by the Dark One on male channelers) on Mirrors, is quite brutal from what little I know. Nobody knows the full details except Maxim (head coder on Mirrors) and he’s as closed mouthed as they come, but from what others know, it goes in stages of –disgustingly- evil increments. And well, it's just nasty. In addition, Wolfbros (men who can talk to wolves) are a possible manifestation. And, will in the end be able to call wolves to their aid, as well as gaining a large boost in their senses: sight, hearing, etc. Also, one can look forward to Dreamwalkers (women who can walk in dreams), and Ta'veren (people blessed/cursed with an odd sort of luck that makes them very important in how the world develops) walking the land altering things about them. Currently Wetlands are comprised of some 8000 or so rooms stretching to Lugard in the West, Cairhien in the east, TV in the North, and Illian in the south, so needless to say when Wetlands are done it are going to be large, the guestimate is 32k rooms, and believe it or not the man-power is there to write all those rooms. The White Tower (home of most of the Wetlands channelers) is composed of 1000 or so rooms, and Caemlyn (biggest city in the world) around 800. Unfortunately aren't... Read More

Mirrors of the Wheel, Mirrors of the Wheel is a world forged from the instant classic Novel series by Robert Jordan. This mud is greatly enhanced by an encouraged Role Play environment, thus adding to the realistic nature which it strives to exemplify. Through interactive description, quests available for non-clanned players, over 50 clans which are true to the Books (as well as some which are added for a more enjoyable play experience), one cannot help but be drawn in to this huge online world. I found the imms to be both friendly and helpful, willing to answer any questions which a player might have. Of course, there is also a very extensive list of "help" files right at the players finger tips, so you are never without the information you need. Also, the players of your own race will be able to assist you if you are in a jam- I found just about everyone to be very accepting of new players, and quite eager to help them get started. If you are new to MUDs, then you don't have to be intimidated. There is a wonderful "newbi" area everyone must go though before they can enter the "real world." This area is quite detailed and gives you the opportunity to earn some basic equipment as well as solve some small quests- all the while being guided though the course step by step. The way character "classes" are handled was quite refreshing. Like in real life, your character has the potential to become what ever their heart desires- only limited by the skills they choose to learn. I found this "Be what you know" aspect to be a welcomed change of pace. You can also teach skills you know to other people, so the circle of learning continues. These are, of course, only a couple examples of the realism which has been brought to this mud through the diligent work of its talented imms. The zones in this mud are simply immense, realistic in both the detailed descriptions of each room and its contents, to the small actions which take place around your character. Combined with the RP encouraging environment and the other players, playing Mirrors of the Wheel is like stepping into the RJ books and living a life of your own. I am a player of this Mud, not a coder or a imm. I was not asked to write this general review, as basic as it is, but rather did so because Mirrors of the Wheel is a mud anyone who enjoys the Wheel of Time novels would love to play. So what are you waiting for? Come weave your own thread into the pattern, and join in the wheels turning... You have tried the rest, now try the best. ~Jetta per'Novem

I've been playing here since it opened for public beta, and I've been amazed at the changes that have been happening here in that short time. The world itself is huge, and if you like to explore and find new things, there's enough to keep you busy here for a long while. The combat system is nice in that they paid attention to small details, but the system itself isn't cumbersome to use. You can target specific areas on the creature you're engaged against and exploit weak points in armor to your advantage. The clan system is very well done in that they have gone out of their way to put the clans into the hands of the players. Granted, for now the imms have to do a lot of the clan grunt work, getting people in and such, but as clans grow, the power is given to the mortals to run things. The only issue against the mud right now that I can think of is stability, but, it's still in beta phase and a certain level of instability is expected. If you like the Wheel of Time universe, please drop by and have a look, the imms and mortals are very friendly and will go out of their way to help new players. Flarn

The intricate details, thought and care that continually go into this mud never cease to amaze me. The cities are enormous, easy to get lost in :-), and have wonderfully written descriptions that fit the WoT theme. Every day it seems like something new is going in, something that players can tangibly see that will add to the roleplay possibilities of their characters, and roleplay we do! The community is so awesome. Players work together really well and enjoy creating story lines that add life to their characters, and these are supported by the immortals; be it through creating quests or jumping into the Mistress of Novices to scold a head strong novice *blink* I have never met a staff who puts more heart into the world they are creating and at the same time will take a moment to help out players with problems. I admire them so much that I recently got an imm of my own. That's what is great about Mirrors, you fall in love with the idea, and the imm's ambition starts to rub off on you :-) Everything there is exciting, and there is so much to explore! Come join us for an incredible experience.
