Description:
Continents is an adventure type mud with a medieval / fantasy theme, which have a strong emphasis on trade skills. Each class is entirely self-supporting. However, characters will become formidable by interacting and cooperating with players with different class skills. Continents allows multi-classing so you can acquire all of the skills available to mortal characters, including both trade and combat skills. We also have a clan and PK system that players can elect to participate in. However some class and race selections will automatically register the player for participation in PvP activities. If you choose to become a thief or a ninja you will have to watch your back. Races which automatically become fair game are Drow, vampire, and werewolf. Continents is a large world featuring several oceans, 6 different continents, and over 100 distinct areas to explore. There are areas in place for the beginner, the experienced, and the I-have-seen-everything character. The world is also a true globe. You can start heading west on an ocean and eventually you will return to the same spot providing wind or water currents haven't blown you off course. [1]
Come and experience a vast world of medieval / fantasy combat and trades. Not only will you find classic combat classes such as Paladin, Thief, and Warrior, you can also choose to adventure as a Ranger or Ninja. If you are more creative you can explore our massive range of trade skills with classes like Trader, Supplier, Alchemist, Smith and Wright. If the magical or spiritual crafts appeal to you there is the option to become a Mage or a Cleric. Brave any of the nine treacherous oceans as you explore the globe's six continents in search of distant and strange lands with unforgettable foes. The world itself contains more than 11,000 rooms that make up 116 areas, many of which are original additions by the Continents Mud immortals and players. Role Play is strongly encouraged but not a requirement. Clans are available to enhance your game experience and if there is no clan to your taste, you may apply to become a clan chief and create your own. Continents has regular worldwide quests and individual quests are also available. In addition, there are challenging quest areas like the legendary Temple of Forever where only the most courageous dare fight. Player Killing (PK) and Stealing are both allowed within the laws of the world; however, those found guilty of illegal killing or stealing will face the judgment of the mud's automated justice system. Continents Mud has undergone 14 years of modification from its original Envy base to evolve into a full featured interactive RPG. The code boasts completely reworked object handling, trade skills, pets, mobprogs / scripts, player houses, player shops, classes, and much more. A small yet friendly player base and active staff members make Continents Mud a thoroughly enjoyable experience. [2]

This mud is a great place to grow and learn and meet new people. The world has changed many times since it has opened its doors but it has always been home to me. It offers the chance to remort and try any and all classes/races if you choose, to build houses, to collect money, to make your own gear and weapons as well as participate in PK. It's a place that allows for you to choose your ' own path and make your own history. The mud offers a bit of everything for everyone. It has new areas never experienced anywhere else made by our own players that offers a unique experience. Right now, the mud is looking for new players to help it grow. Come join us at Continents to help us become a busy place for people to come and enjoy what is to offer.

Ok, this mud at one time was a good mud until all the clans left but one. That one clan is imm filled. All mortals are imm from that mud and you cant defeat them. They make you use the rules, but when it comes to the imm's from that clan, they dont have to abide by their own rules. They kill players that are 60-70 levels below them and dont care what happens and if you ask an imm how can it be fair about what they do, you get told if you don't want to play delete.

Continents Mud is Awesome. Everyone is very helpful when you are lost or dead for the first, fifth, or hundredth time. The map is very vast and lots of it is completely custom. It is a good starter mud and great for experts too. There are places for every level character.

I used to play continents a few years ago but stopped. I tried a few others, but none of them appealed to me the the same way this one did. I then started playing it again a few days ago. The people who play this are just so nice!! They're always asking if they's anything they can do for you or if you need to get anything explained they'll do it. There's so much exploring to do because the world is so big it's great! It's good for newbies or people that want a change of scene. There's no other mud like it. Go on, give it a go, you know I want you to!

This was the first mud that I ever started with and since then I have never found one quite like it. No other MUD that i have come across comes near the quality of Continents. Sure, at some points it is hard, but they can be dealt with, whether it be from the Champion level players or even someone your own level. Either way, help can always be found here, from the players, and even the immortals, everyone here tries to help out the newcomers. Overall, this MUD is most excellent.

This mud is awesome! I have been mudding here a year and I am still figuring things out. Always a challenge, but not too tough. The people are the best part though. Everyone is willing to help a newbie out, even imms.

I have been searching for a MUD like this for a long time. Very large and loads to explore. The staff is really nice and helpful.

Continents MUD is among the most unique and interesting MUDs that I have ever experienced. The balance of community and individuality is unmatched by any of the other MUDs I have known. The amount and variety of player-to-player interaction here are infinite. Continents MUD supports a great community of players as well as a handful of helpful and generous staff members who are constantly looking for ways to improve upon this world. This MUD is perfect for MUD'ers of all calibers and interests. When I first started Continents, I was a rookie MUD'er with next to no experience in MUD'ing. Now, I serve as the general of my clan, which brings me to my next point. The clan system here, while not complicated, is still very fascinating. Continents currently contains three unique clans (there have been three others, but they have died out), each with its own set of laws and interests. No matter what you have planned for your character, one of these clans is bound to fit your needs. Lastly, for those coming from PK muds. While the PK on Continents is limited, it is not unheard of. PK here tests not only a player's power, but his strategy, resources, and capabilities. Unlike PK MUDs, in which sheer power often prevails, victory on Continents depends on many factors: use of the right spells (offensive and defensive), scrolls and potions, and class skills. While success on Continents does not depend on your ability to PK, it is always an option. In my five years of MUD'ing, Continents has been my first and my last MUD. I have played many other MUDs, among them many PK MUDs, and yet, time after time, I return to the Continents.

Continents has been my mudding home for over two years. I started as a player, and worked hard. I currently enjoy a staff position as well as playing several characters. The mud is growing, and is constantly being tweaked to make it better. The admin are dedicated to creating a mud where everyone can enjoy themselves, and need to work together to get things done. The commerce of Continents is like none that I have seen elsewhere, and is really well set up. Players are encouraged to send in ideas, comments, questions, and bugs. As a growing mud, things are changing, and players are a huge part of that change. No mud has been as addictive as Continents for me, and I have never met a group of better people in any online game I have played. Come on in and see what it is about, and I am confident you will find Continents a great place to enjoy.

Continents Mud is among the most complex and intriguing MUDS that I have ever visited. Even though PK is frowned upon, doesn't mean it can't be done, and there are endless other ways to interact with players. It's got a newbie friendly player base in case you're new to level based MUDS. I started Continents five years ago when I first started MUDDING, and now I stand as the General of our clan. If you care to drop by, ask for Sir Orcrist Greymane ;). Continents hosts a small but close group of players. Here, you'll form a better sense of the MUD community that is rarely found elsewhere. Whether it be setting out on an adventure with a friend or just chatting away whilst slaying some dragons, there is no shortage of player interaction. Furthermore, Continents' unique set of trade and combat classes allow for roleplaying interactions as well. There is no end to the fun and excitement of Continents Mud. New and improved areas are always being added to the world (thanks to the hard work of our individual area-builders). There will always be new lands to explore and new secrets to uncover. For all you players from PK MUDS, no worries. Before and during my stay at Continents, I had been a fervent PK'er. If you are searching for a quieter place to hang while escaping from a fellow PK'er or just looking for somewhere else to hang, I strongly suggest logging onto Continents. For me, it started as a place to pass the time while waiting for a victim to log on, but it started to grow on me. Besides, there aren't any bothersome pwipes here. The dedicated staff will make sure that your stay here is as fruitful and enjoyable as possible.

I personally had never mudded before Continents. I came on to this mud brand new and fell in love with the place. The Admin and Immortals are great and helpful and really seem to care. The place is up to currently three clans which gives you the choice of which clan or you can even choose to be clanless and still have friends and work things out fairly well. The playerbase has been growing and this seems to add more to the environment. Even if you are brand new to muds or just to Continents, just by asking you can usually receive help and ideas of what you should be doing next. The mud itself is always growing. New areas are always being added so even as Champion you rarely get bored. There is always gear being added to challenge people to always explore to find the best gear and usually there is always something to do seeing how there is Smith/Supplier/Alchemist/Wright/Traveler as secondary classes which have jobs for you to do. You can remort if you get bored. Although it has been limited to only having two lives' skills saving, but it still allows you to do every life eventually; just have to choose which two you want to end your lives with and keep the skills. Overall if you are looking for a place to play, meet new friends and love adventuring instead of just a hack and slash mud, then give Continents a try. It isn't the easiest of muds but it is definitely worth the challenge.

Aye, Jocelyn is correct with this MUD. It's great, i started and had a little bit of trouble getting used to the commands, but the fellow players, Immortals and Admin were a great help. I quickly got used to it and was able to look after myself. I strongly recommend this MUD for beginner and expert alike.

Very good mud. Thats how I am going to start off my semtence, a very good mud. Here are the reasons why. -Very friendfully community, they always give newbies a helping hand -Tons of areas to explore, mobs to kill, clans to join -Player-Owned shops, sell your stuff and earn gold -Wars and much more!

This is probably one of the best games I've played. The people on it are very friendly and helpful. The staff is always willing to give you a hand, along with the players who are already there, you just have to give a yell. The various areas range from easy to very difficult, which makes the playing interesting and fun. There is new stuff added all the time, making it a place that you can continously explore and learn about. There are so many aspects to the game that you find yourself learning or figuring something out constantly. And when you get stuck with something, there are always the helpfiles or someone to give you a hand, even if you can't see them. So, all in all, a really great game.

Continents mud is a mud that while still in testing, has gained a loyal playerbase, and a well liked staff. There is a large world with many different paths that a player can take through life. While based off Diku/envy code base, a lot of the code has been modified. There are several different classes and races that you can choose from, as well as a complete clan system. The staff there is helpful and can be found online at most times. The players here are also very helpful towards newbies and have no problems helping out or handing out advice. There is a well formed PK system, and the wonderful thing about it is that if you do not want to be involved in PK you do not have to be. In closing, if you're looking for a good mud with great people, a helpful staff, fun quests, and an ever expanding world, come give Continents a try. You definitely won't regret it.

I personally have been mudding for 12 years and this has to be one of the most unique muds that I have ever played on. At first glance it was quiet except for the basic noob chatter which was well handled by the Administration. The thing that strikes me most about this mud is the fact that it has a subtle complexity that you don't normally see on muds. Your experience comes from interaction with the environment rather than your typical hack and slash xp gathering. Another interesting thing about this mud is the people, for the most part the community is rather nice. When they say that the world is large, it's an understatement. The world is huge with an excellent layout. If you want to try something different try continents, you'll be glad that you did.
