PhoenixMUD is a lot of fun. Lots of race/class/skill/spell combinations. Hundreds of zones. Good for hack and slash or running automated quests. Modified circle code with lots of new features. Occasional RP events, but those are pretty rare. This is one of the longest lasting muds out there. Iluvatar has moved on, but old timers still drop by now and then. Come by, at phoenixmud.mine.nu, port 4000. Recommended.

Looking for a stable mud that’s just plain fun? I’ve called Phoenixmud home for the last 6 years, and here’s why. Though it has tens of thousands of rooms and continues to grow, it never loses sight of the importance of balance in the face of constant improvements. Each new feature is carefully weighed and meshed with what has come before. Choose from dozens of class and race combinations. Master 70 skills and 125 spells as you progress through 300 levels. Come for the adventure. Stay for the sprite chips (lightly salted). Join a clan or go it alone. The zones keep getting better and better, with interactive mobs, puzzles, and quests that take you from one end of the realm to the other. Sit and chat with friends, or beat them to a bloody pulp in the specially designated PvP battle zones. With so many thousands of creative objects in the game, it’s easy to become a pack rat. No problem. Auction them off for cold, hard cash, or buy your very own house for storage. The coders are very active, and some nice features have been added in the last few months, included automated multi-part hero tests for remorting. One criticism I have is that the port has changed a couple times, and it seems like old players have had a hard time refinding the place. There are also a couple lingering stock zones, but not many. The place is very newbie friendly, and the world now supports multiple hometown starting points. I've tried many muds, and this is one of the greats. Come check it out! *Cenwyc Ipratropious Equinox, the Breath of Spring*

After playing Phoenixmud for five years, I can say it truly is a place where one can return, or begin, and feel welcomed with open arms from the start. The playerbase is growing, but still remains as tight-knit as ever. Several players know each other, and have known each other for years on end. It's a good place to invest all your spare time, or hardly any at all. Whether you use it to chat and hang out, or to hack and slash, or even to roleplay, you will find a welcoming smile and presence there. Their improved combat and spell system is unique to them, and offers a level of skill progression which feels both real and requires work and dedication to advance. Three hundred and three playable levels offers even the most hardcore players room to advance, and their remort system allows casual players to complete content on the level of their remort'ed counterparts, with less of a time investment required. Phoenixmud is also very newbie friendly. The players there are interested in seeing it attract new players and keep them. We are interested in sharing a good thing in Phoenixmud, and believe that only through catching new player's attention and keeping it, we can maintain a strong MUD and a strong interest. An automated quest system is on the way, which excites me, especially as a veteran player. The MUD is also under new management, which makes me especially happy, as some of the old immortals were happy with a stale, stagnant mud. =( With a unique equipment and character management system, a great combat and spell system, a great remort system, and one of the best immortal staffs around, I would recommend PhoenixMUD to all my friends. I have played over 10 different MMORPG's and have character in the endgame on two of those, and I still return to PhoenixMUD. I wholeheartedly recommend this great mud to anyone looking for a family-style mix of hack-n-slash and RP. =)

PhoenixMUD has been my reoccuring home over the past five years. Personally I have played in the neighborhood of ten different MMORPG's and many, many more MUDs, but I find myself returning to Phoenix time and time again. Phoenix offers more than your typical mud. It has a unique spell and combat system which I have grown to love, it offers a friendly immortal staff which is there to help when needed. It offers both ample hack and slash and encourages Roleplaying. Altogether, I would recommend this mud to any player. It has a mold for both casual and hardcore players, and the other players there are looking to expand and nuture the playerbase. Whether you're looking for a place to invest many hours in a hardcore character, or a place to come and roleplay with your friends, Phoenix has what you need, and it offers it with a friendly playerbase and staff.
PhoenixMUD is more than just your typical MUD. I have been a player on the MUD for almost five years, and have grown to know many of the others players and staff. The MUD grows on you more than any MMORPG I have ever played, and any other MUD I have ever tried out. The world is huge and constantly growing. Every object is described, and every room goes through an intensive screening process so it is only the best. The renewed imm staff at PhoenixMUD's new home is very friendly and ready to get the MUD going again. It is hard to put into words what PhoenixMUD can bring to your life. Whether it be a new group of friends, or a way to pass the summer, PhoenixMUD is a perfect way to spend your time.
