Asgard's Honor is a fantasy mud with origins from an older mud some of you may know called Valhalla. (Valhalla was shutdown and was last known at hal.com:2444) Since many of us couldn't bear to see it go, we have recreated the feeling we enjoyed so much. * There are many races and guilds to choose from with different strengths and weaknesses. * There are many player-modifyable statistics to choose from to guide player development. * There are over 50 spells in many different categories such as healing, combat, etc. Please come and join our world, we welcome any and all! [2]
In January 1998, Asgard's Honor rose from the ashes of Valhalla, one of the first LP-MUDs. Today we combine the best of the old world with new and exciting areas so that veteran players, the nostalgic and new alike can find something to enjoy. Our world is all original and every room and object is lovingly crafted. If you remember Valhalla, you'll love our quality areas, richness and depth. If you're new, grab a torch and brace yourself for high adventure. [3]

Asgard's Honor is a rich, dark fantasy text-based online multi-user game. For some, text-based games can't compete with the likes of EverQuest and other graphical MMOGs. However, Asgard's Honor offers a much greater depth and a more intimate feel than other games can provide. Asgard's Honor, which was created by players and wizards (game developers) from a much older text-based MUD, Valhalla, opened in 1998. The game is stats based with players earning experience through combat and spending the experience on stats and skills or levels. Players may progress from level 1 through 10, with each new level allowing the player to raise their stats/skills an additional 10 points. Along the way, the player is able to join guilds (which give discounts to certain stats), some of which require the player to complete quests as they raise in level. Initially, the player must choose from over 10 different races or to create their own (which requires them to start with minimal stats) to create a new character. From there, they start as an adventurer and are able to venture out and gain experience. Eventually, the player will join a guild (required in order to progress beyond level 1), there are currently 14 in the game and some of them must be found as their entrances are hidden. The guilds, as mentioned above, provide the player with discounts on stats and skills and allow players to raise on guild stat an additional 10 points. Some guilds have special requirements. For instance, the Bard guild requires each Bard to audition for their next level by "singing" a song or poem for the mud and other players vote to decide if the Bard may advance in level. Another example is the Samurai guild, where players must have a clean "honor list" before they advance. For an honor list to be clean, the Samurai must defeat any monster they have died to since the last time they went up a level. Probably the most detailed portion of the Asgard's Honor world is the magic and combat systems. There are several forms of magic, from straight striking spells, to prayer (protective) magic, to healing magic, mental and elemental magics. Each has its own sets of spells and requires their skills be developed over time in order for the full list of spells to be available to the player. The depth of the magic system is seen best in the strike spells, of which there are 11 different spells of increasing complexity (read do more damage). Each spell does a certain type of damage, either bash, slash, or thrust damage. Each spell can also be focused to a certain type of damage, such as light or shadow, acid or fire. Monsters and players alike can have resistance to different types of damage (either from protective spells or weapons and armors that confer protection to the player or monster). By learning the right combination, players can do more damage to monsters through their damage It... Read More

What can I say....This mud is addictive! Once you give it a try, and get to know some of the people here then it's most assured you'll be hooked. Everyone is very friendly, the wiz's are great. Unlike most places where wiz's are sometimes rude or too busy they all make you feel welcome here at asgards. As it almost feels like a second home. The mud is plumb full of excellent critters to smite from the world, or you can always come on and chat with the other players as they're quite friendly and helpful. Some of the rooms describes are nothing short of awesome with down to the letter in discriptions, and various things that are "hidden" that allow those of you that have a curiosity streak hidden away within you. Quite often curiosity is well rewarded. I've been playing in asgard for roughly 6 years as a friend of mine turned me onto it, and i've been an addict ever since. Come in Look, Ask, and most of all Enjoy! P.S.-I'm Fuery the Daimyo of the honorable Samurai, if ever you need help then I'm THERE!

Nothing that I can say could possibly translate into words the splendor and richness of this MUD. I started playing Valhalla in 1995, and was extremely sad to see it go (to say the least), so when some former players and wizards got together to recreate the home that we had all lost, I of course had to join in! Asgard's Honor is a tribute to that home, which was one of the most well-known and widely played MUD's of the time. There have been a few additions to the formula, but it still plays just like it did back in 1994. Asgard's Honor is a small MUD, mostly due to a lack of players and wizards. More players means more wizards, which in turn means more monsters and more rooms to explore. That doesn't mean that there is nothing to do, however. Plenty of amazing creatures and tension-filled battles await you in Asgard, and when you finally complete one of the mind-bending quests, you will feel a sense of accomplishment that I have not found on any MUD before or since. The players and wizards who do inhabit the world are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and love nothing more than to see new faces come to join in on the MUD that they love so dearly. Ask any player there a question about anything, and if they don't know the answer, odds are that they will drop whatever they are doing just to find out for you. A unique guild system, create-your-own-race function, and many more innovative features make this MUD the only MUD that I play, a sentiment that is shared among most, if not all of the players on Asgard's Honor. So grab your torch, refill your soda, and make yourself comfortable while you explore the world that the few proud inhabitants of Asgard call home.

When my buddy first got the newset thing in computer technology....I just had to check it out. Wow....14.4 connection to 'The Internet' (like '93-94?) heh.....not even that fast! I took forever to look at any webpages.....and that was a turn off at first....but then he showed me this 'MUD' called Valhalla. I watched him play and eventually joined in. Everyone was very friendly to help me out and show me around. I soon found out that everyone on this 'MUD' was like a Family Member. I fell in love with my new Family. Valhalla became Asgard's Honor (in a way) and most of the same people moved over to 'OUR' new home. Asgard's Honor is my home. It may be 'smaller' than some other muds or you 'might not be able to do that on this mud' ie: PK but It is my home and the people playing are my family. They have become this over time. I, personally, have been studing certain types of PC languages in order to hopefully one day be able to create (Wiz) on Asgard's. See....the effect is has! So, I invite you to step into the realm of Asgard's Honor and see for yourself what attracted me almost 10 years ago. and....if you do, type 'who' (no quotes) and if Jude is on (thats me) I will give you 'Jude's Personal Tour' *never the same twice* Asgard's Honor ranks well above the rest due to play-ability, very detailed rooms and monsters, and most of all....the staff and players are the best around! asgard.aardmud.org port 5454 www.asgardshonor.com -Andrew Rudd a.k.a.
