Like other reviewers, I've been playing at MA on and off for over 10 years. When I started mudding, I played at various other muds for a while...PK muds, LP, etc. I bounced around quite a few different muds before eventually landing at Mystic Adventure. Once I started playing here, I've never played anywhere else. Like other reviewers have stated, a huge part of MA's strength is its players. Nearly everyone there is friendly, courteous...and we LOVE to help players who are new to the realm. But as most mudders know, players come and go pretty regularly. The thing that has kept me coming back to mystic for over 10 years is the game itself. The immortals have done(and continue to do!) an AMAZING job making MA a fun place for everyone, newbies and older players alike. There is endless variation everywhere you turn...classes, areas, quests, PK battles(if desired), and everything is VERY well balanced. Every time I play I learn something new. I don't think I'll ever learn everything there is to know about the world, and to me, that's what keeps me coming back. And if I ever did, we have some amazing area creators that are constantly working to make sure I don't :). In my experience, the learning curve at MA is very shallow compared to other muds. Learning 'how' to play the game is easy, especially with all the great players there who love to help out. Learning all the intricacies, and how to play the game 'well' is the challenge and is why I love MA. I never get bored. Come check us out and meet the MA family. We're always looking for new folx to group with. Pop in and say hi! Gabran

Well to start, I have tried a few other ones, including one that a guy at my work has made and nothing that I have tried comes close to the reality that I have found on Mystic. Everyone including the Mobs are friendly :). There are people always auctioning items for any level person. There are a few Mentors at any given time that are able to help. There are the ones that are there for Comedy *won't mention any names for any of these folks*. We have Player Battles when the Imms feel its great to do. All the Imms are Very Friendly. But all and all we have just received a new Contient to play on which puts us well above any other mud I have come across. The players are what makes the mud and I have to say the players on Mystic(ALL of them) are Great Folks. There are clans, and even if you're not in a clan, anyone is willing to lend a hand when they can. I suggest you check it out if you want Fun, Killings, and Sometimes Battles. Head over to Mystic now to check out where the Real Fun is!.

I've been playing mystic since the mid 90's and Through everything I always end up back there. I've tried MUDS of all shapes and sizes and Mystic is still my favorite. Basic rundown. There are a fairly wide variety of player races and sub-races to choose from with various racial pros and cons (mostly stat and equipment based). There are also a wide variety of player classes to choose from. Many sharee common skills and abilities but each typically posesses a set of unique abilities in flavor for that class. There are 11 Temple cities. Depending on your race your character will start in an appropriate Temple (Drow for example will start in Stratz the drow city, Merfolk start in Atlantis, etc). However, every one may travel freely and change the town you call home. There is an extensive world full of interesting areas and colorful inhabitants. I've seen a lot of changes throughout the years and there are always new surprises to be found. But a few things remain the same. The Imm staff is always present and the players are friendly and helpful. While personal discovery and exploration are encouraged there is always someone willing to give a helping hand if needed to players of all level, from newbies just starting out to those of us who have reached the highest levels. Mystic is an extremly social mud with players communicating regularly through personal and public channels. There are numerous established Clans of players who are always on the lookout for members who will bolster their ranks. While Mystic has never been a PK oriented mud there are regular Battle events which allow players to face off against each other in a variety of ways from simple every man for himself free-for-alls, more fun based Tag battles where you literally play tag with the other players, to 1-on-1 duels. Recently, true PK zones have been added which are closer to what most players would expect from a PK mud. These are clearly marked and must be entered willingly, so no worries of accidently wandering in and getting killed. The Imm staff is always open to the players suggestions and even have a whole section of the in game bulliten board dedicated to Ideas and suggestions. While the population on Mystic has dwindled a bit over the years (mostly due to the affect MMORPG's have had on non-graphical online gaming) we are always ready and eager to welcome new faces to join us. If you're looking for a first MUD or just a new place to hang your hat, Come on over and play Mystic. We'd love to have you.

Hello, I've been a player on mystic for about 8 years now. I'm writing here for two reasons. 1) our name server has been down so a lot of people can't connect. The answer - use our addy 67.42.155.223 port 4000 or 5000 2) This is by far the best mud i've ever played. I've been on several other muds that are listed on TMC and i haven't found anything that meets the feeling I get when I play here on Mystic. With a base of players who have been here as long, or longer than me. There are always people there to help out, play along with, or just to chat. The mud is always and will probably forever be expanding. Higher level areas are a big draw lately, which push for exploration and leveling. There are several clans which add a sense of bonding and give the ability to learn the mud through others. The imms put on some great extra events like sieges, battles, quests that can add to the experience of the mud. There are plenty of classes and races out there to choose from and the equipment is always expanding. Come along and see why i think that Mystic is by far one of the superior Muds out there.

Many years ago I left this wonderful mud behind me due to real life concerns. Recently I returned to this mud at the behest of a few of the players. What made this mud great is still what makes this mud great, the people. You can say what you want about the code, the adventure, or anything else, but the people are what make muds great. Mystic Adventure has some of the greatest people ever playing. They welcomed me with open arms, they helped me reorient myself with playing, and they've been a constant support and companion. If you're having problems they will listen, if you need information they are giving, and they are always there.

I've been on Mystic for over ten years now - thankfully, there are very good reasons for this! It was not my first mud, but one of several I started out with - and the only one that has stuck AND been consistently well-administered, updated, and active. The player base has always been very dedicated and involved with the life of the mud - there are opportunities for players and clans to sponsor quests or trivia contests, envision and create areas, and offer input into the development of new features of the world. The sheer size of Mystic Adventure is staggering - and almost every single room is unique to the mud, courtesy of a large and creative community of builders. Areas and quests are generally well-designed and original, and in recent years have become increasingly complex and challenging, some requiring a great deal of strategy and cooperation, not to mention skill, to conquer. And, the development continues apace, with new areas opening regularly. Numerous other features, many of which have been implemented following discussion among the players, make Mystic a unique and accomodating environment - certain players serve as Mentors to newbies, certain lead by example as Heros or Clan Leaders, and others bring their talents to the administration of the mud as Immortals. I have seen all kinds of players in my time here - those who play socially, those who roleplay, those who end up getting married in r/l (that's real life ;) ), those who go for power, those who choose to explore - and the end result is a mud where anyone will have an enjoyable time and play according to their individual style. Hopefully you will get a chance to stop by and check out the mud - if you see me, be sure to say hi.

Mystic Adventure, great place to spend some time. The players for the most part, are great people. The imm staff is active and always on the prowl for things to make the mud better or bigger, with new unique areas being added faitly often. The mud's a big place with a little something for everyone, restricted pkill areas, battles, sieges, quests and sometimes fun trivia games to break up the leveling(and you can now level to 8999, so u might be our first 1000). There are loads of races and subraces, allowing one to find a good fit for their character, lots of neat classes also, not just your mage cleric warrior, but also priests, crusaders, samurais, warlords, adepts, bandits, psionicists, brigands and more. This mud has been around for a long time, still has some players who have been here 10 years or more, so if you are looking for a new experience, and have the time(Mystic can be addictive) log in and have a look around. I've enjoyed this mud for a very long time. Thought I'd submit a review to tell folks what it's like. My favorite part is the sheer size of the realm - its HUGE - well over 25,000 rooms. I've played a long time and still learn things / find new elements. The life of the mud, though is from the playerbase. A helpful, enjoyable group of people, always willing to help out newbies of all types. Plenty of races and classes to choose from, a huge selection of spells as well. I started playing Mystic Adventure because I'm lazy- I hated typing the whole word 'look in...etc' I bring this up to show just one small detail about how immensely modified this mud really is. Most of the neat elements of code that circulate the mud community have been added, as well as hundreds of their own. All in all, a very colorful, fun world to play in. Not too many ppl and not too few. Average about 25 or so a night. Please come by and take a look. If you enjoy it, stay a while - and be sure to say hello :) Candor

Mystic Adventure, a great mud populated by great people, they have 14 main races, with some of those having lots of subraces, there's 17 classes to choose from(some i've never ran across before) so surely you can find one to suit your playstyle, the place is huge and a lot of it is original or revamped. The people there seem very nice and welcoming, seems to be a great place to explore and spend some time. Active immstaff the seems open to new ideas, a safe pkill arena battlefield, where you can fight other players if you choose to enter and not lose your gear or experience or anything, except face maybe :). Check it out, it's been fun for me so far.

having played this mud for a number of years, i can safely say it's a great place to spend some time, from the friendly people and supportive immstaff to the many original areas and quests this mud can keep even the old experienced players busy. This mud has been around in one form or another since the 80's and it's been through some changes, this very newbie friendly world is rich and detailed and beware, for it can be very addictive, so if you are looking for an enchanting distraction jump over to Mystic Adventure and say hey, i'm sure you will find something to keep u busy.

I have been playing on Mystic Adventure for about a week now. I was facing a problem that besets a lot of mudders-- how can I find a compromise between the impersonal but well-maintained 100 or more player megamuds and the 'everyone knows everyone else' feeling of small muds that may or may not have anyone on when you log? MA seems like a nice balance. At peak times there can be 20 or 30 on, but there is usually at least 10 at any given time. The people who mud there are friendly to newbies and the donation chest is usually well stocked. They have a nice newbie area that is suitable for a first time player but doesn't waste the more experienced player's time. One tip: when rolling for stats, don't accept any stats with luck less than 16. You can't train luck, but you can train the other stats with your practices. The descriptions are fleshed out, and the mud is full of places to explore. But you better like leveling, because at MA you are basically never finished. Players who have been there for years are just getting into the 200s and there are 500 levels. All in all, it's a fun mud with lots to do and friendly people to do it with.
