The world is a dream, death is never final, and the things hunting you are nightmares. Your character is someone who wandered into the dream, same as everyone else playing. What happens to you inside still counts: it wakes you rather than ending you, the way a dream does. Skills train by being used, so what you do is what you get good at. A door stands upright in the open sand at the Edge of the Sands, hinged into a frame that holds up nothing at all, and it asks you things.
